Firestone Walker was one of the original craft brewers to come out of Northern California. Launched by one of the Firestone wine family, Adam Firestone, and long-time friend and business associate David Walker, Firestone Walker came to us as a fledgling business with a rather nondescript brand and its sights set on national expansion. Their challenge: (1) find and articulate the soul of their brand to help elevate it for a larger audience, and (2) develop a brand and business strategy that could grow their current and future product portfolio.

As we began working closely with the partners it quickly became clear that they were two very different people with a shared passion for making great beer. Their success was largely borne of their strong personalities pushing against each other in their desire to elevate the product. The incredible power of their unique partnership inspired the iconic lion and bear identity and a “Passion for the Pale” brand platform that positioned them as zealots for great pale ale. The platform not only captured their story, but also informed all of their marketing, including the “Passion for the Sale” distributor sales program, turning them into one of the nation’s strongest microbreweries on their way to achieving $100M in sales.
