Starbucks knew something needed to change. They faced a weak economy, increased pressure from low-cost competitors, market saturation and brand commoditization. They needed to re-evaluate their positioning and craft a fresh vision to lead the brand into the future. BILD partners were tapped to help Starbucks leadership review their market positioning, unearth key consumer insights, and facilitate small group workshops to refine and refresh the brand experience.

The Work

We partnered with Starbucks to strip everything back and look at what made the brand successful from its start as a small Seattle coffee house. We worked with internal teams to develop a new brand purpose and refine their tone, language, voice, store design, and product packaging to capture the core drivers and unique essence that originally made Starbucks iconic. Together, we produced a powerful brand platform that the Starbucks team could use to define their future path and update the customer experience in a way that would allow people to fall in love with the brand all over again.
